Job Description

Developing custom web-applications for uses in fields such as marine science, fisheries, and GPS related services. This is small team and we do it all from in-house IT to product design, development, and testing. Most of our programming is in Python and JavaScript on a Django framework. Must be able to learn new skills and be able to switch tasks and take on new roles as they are needed.

This is a junior to intermediate level position, and the employee will work with a senior developer in implementing new capabilities and in maintaining existing software and databases.


  • Bachelor degree in computer science, mathematics, marine science, engineering or other technical field.
  • 1 year experience in working on web-based applications, frontend or backend. Good working knowledge of HTML, Python, CSS, and Javascript. Comfortable administrating remote Linux (Ubuntu) LAMP servers.
  • US Citizen

Preferred Skills:

  • Django, MySQL  experience.
  • Experience with Google Maps API or other web-based mapping tools.
  • Other database experience (MSSQL, PostGRES).
  • Experience in web-frameworks (PHP, Ruby on Rails, Java) and willingness to learn the Django framework.
  • General IT experience.
  • Experience with scientific data and data visualization
  • Experience working with a version control system such as Git or Subversion
